10 Best Alien Invasion Movies of All Time
With recent events and people seeing UFOs everywhere, it might be nice to watch some of the best alien invasion movies. I highly recommend anything on this list. This list was hard to put in any order, so please don't take these rankings too seriously. These are all fantastic movies. I put them from 10 to 1, but it's not an official ranking. Any of these movies could be 1 or 2 on this list.
If you are a prepper, watch these movies for ideas on how an alien invasion may happen. Each of these films is a different take on how aliens may attack or how they may already be here! You need to watch these films. It would be best if you were ready. Stay alert! Trust no one. I'm kidding, but you never know!
10. Close Encounters of the Third Kind
The Steven Spielberg masterpiece Close Encounters has an intense paranormal feel. The film is set in the gritty 80s. It's just all the more authentic feeling. We don't think the aliens are monsters, but they could be. The movie is fun to watch and still has a modern feel. Of all the films on this list, this one closely matches today's events.
9. Independence Day
Independence Day is the most action-packed movie on the list. Even though it is a special effects circus, the film does have that triumphant summer movie feeling. It was a smash hit when it came out. The script is a little wanting, but the big names and the good performances make up for it. Watching with your kids is a lot of fun and undoubtedly okay. Of all the movies on this list, this is one of our worst nightmares for how aliens introduce themselves.
8. Star Trek: First Contact
Even if you've never seen a Star Trek movie or tv show, you should watch First Contact. It is an excellent movie with great directing and a terrific script. This movie is how we hope aliens show up, not the Borg, but the guys who show up at the movie's end. I hope I don't ruin anything here. The Enterprise goes back in time to stop an enemy from changing Earth's future in the past. They are trying to stop humankind's first contact with aliens. It's an inspirational movie; if aliens invade us, I hope this is how they do it.
7. District 9
You feel like you need to shower after watching this movie. There is something about it that's so gritty and dirty. It feels very realistic. It feels like a documentary. It is a critic favorite, and for a good reason. The script and the performances are outstanding. This movie could win an academy award today. Aliens from another world get stranded in Johannesburg, Africa. They are not treated well. Humans exploit them. I don't want to say much more, but lessons are learned, characters are changed, and we are in deep trouble if they ever return.
6. A Quiet Place
John Krasinski's A Quiet Place is full of suspense. The movie is well-directed and very well-written. It certainly gets you on the edge of your seat and has the most horror movie feel of any of the films on this list. A meteor crashes, and these animals show up that kill anything that makes a sound. I thought it was a fun ride. The movie is full of intense situations that build up until the end. It's a fun movie. I hope these aren't the aliens we get.
5. War of the Worlds (1953)
This one doesn't have Tom Cruise in it (that's the remake). It's the classic H.G. Wells invasion story that turned into a spectacle of a radio show. War of the Worlds is what we all fear. It's like Independence Day, but we don't have a chance. We need to understand why the aliens come to exterminate the human race. If aliens show up on Earth like this and they want to take over, there will be little we can do to stop them.
4. John Carpenter's The Thing
I hope this is different from how the alien invasion goes. It is the most excellent monster movie of all time. Its practical effects are legendary, but much of this movie is gross and not for the faint of heart. If you aliens come to Earth this way, let us hope that men and women will give their lives to stop it.
3. Invasion of the Body Snatchers 1978
Invasion of the Body Snatchers is a must-watch movie. You must be aware if this is how the aliens come to Earth! Has your mom been acting weird lately? Is your wife or husband doing things you can't explain? Maybe the alien invasion has already begun, and we are unaware. The movie is a classic. It's scary, and it's a beautiful film.
2. Signs
Signs is a realistic take on how aliens might come to Earth if they are aggressive. In the movie, these aliens are invading, and many of the classic signs are addressed, like crop circles, but the film follows one family trying to put their lives back together after the mother's death. It works on many levels and is one of my favorite alien movies. Some people don't like this type of subtle storytelling, but if you are okay with a slow burn, Signs has to be on your list. Also, if aliens do show up, listen to the signs in your life for once.
1 John Carpenters They Live
Again, these movies are not arranged from best to less best. I just put them in any order, but They Live is a film that captures our modern times. It was a forward-thinking movie for 1988. God is your money. You must obey. The aliens are already here. They are in power and control the world, which is why things are so bad. You are either with them, or they disenfranchise you. A lot of the divide between people and declining conditions of the 1980s are explained away by alien influence in this masterpiece of movie making. The movie has held up so well. It's a must-watch.
Here are 10 Alien invasion movies that might give us insight into recent events. Are the aliens out there? Do you want to believe it? Either way, these ten movies must be seen in the area of alien invasion preparation. Know what could happen!
